Q & A

What is Microblading / Micropigmentaion?

The use of pigments for color enhancement dates back thousands of years. Unlike tattooing, Microblading / Micropigmentation is the process in which pigment is implanted into the dermis with a tool that has been specifically designed for such procedures, using soft, beautiful, natural colors to enhance one’s own features. The hand tool is comprised of tiny needles situated closely together. After exact color has been selected, the tool is placed into the pigment and the procedure begins by having a series of strokes implanted into the dermis of the area that is to be enhanced or receive color restoration / repair.

Who can benefit from Permanent Cosmetics (Microblading / Micropigmentation) and Reconstructive Pigmentation?

Women and men, alike, especially those with any of the following:

  • Tired or faded appearance
  • Active lifestyles (any energy exerting activity can cause make-up to “sweat” off)
  • Hair loss in brows and lashes, due to aging, chemotherapy, alopecia, trichotillomania, etc.(These afflict both sexes)
  • Decreased or poor vision, which makes applying make-up difficult
  • Allergies to conventional make-up
  • Contact lens wearers
  • Unsteady or tremulous hands
  • Oily skin (colors from conventional make-up can smudge during the day)

Others that can also benefit…

  • Cancer Survivors, particularly women who have had surgery on their breastsand need areola restoration
  • Vitiligo Clients
  • Burn Survivors
  • Cleft Lip Clients
  • Those with Hypopigmentation

Is it safe?

Advanced Image Artistry, inc. is owned and operated by Laurie Ke, rn, who holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and an award for Clinical Excellence. Every procedure is done with disposable needles and supplies, and the OSHA guidelines are followed. The pigments that are used are hypoallergenic and purchased from the leading manufacturer in the industry. Many of the clients of Advanced Image Artisty, inc. are also healthcare professionals. Medical assessments are done on each client, and for increased safety, a small patch test is always performed at least 30 minutes prior to any procedure.

What are the risks?

Infection is the biggest risk, however, if after care instructions are followed, this risk is dramatically decreased. Because this is an art form, and not a science, in rare instances, pigment can migrate. It generally happens if it was implanted too deep, therefore, at Advanced Image Artistry, Inc., colors are applied in layers, which ultimately takes more time to complete, but results are more natural looking.

What if I like to change my make-up shades for different outfits or when the seasons change?

After permanent cosmetic procedures have been done, there is every opportunity to wear different shades of conventional make-up or to wear darker colors in the evening. At Advanced Image Artistry, Inc. pigmentation is applied to ENHANCE your own features and coloring. For example, if a fair skinned, light haired person requested black eyeliner, most likely, this would be contraindicated for someone with this type of coloring. It is, however possible, in fact, that black would be the color that works best for this person. In most cases, though, it would be too severe, & harsh looking, which actually can make one appear more aged. Color matching and mixing is extremely important for achieving results that compliment your features, complexion, hair color (even if you change colors often), and most of all, make you look and feel more beautiful!

Is it painful?

Because most of the areas to be enhanced or restored can be quite sensitive, some discomfort may occur during the procedure, however topical anesthetics are applied to help prevent this. Everyone has a different threshold for pain, some require more anesthetic, while others require very little, or none at all. Your comfort level will be assessed and every effort will be made to ensure that you have the most pleasant experience possible.

Is it costly?

Microblading / Micropigmentation is a wise investment not only in your appearance, but in your lifestyle as well. Just consider the results and the time saved each day. Particularly when compared to what most women spend yearly on hair coloring/styling and other aesthetic maintenance, Microblading / Micropigmentation is quite cost effective.

Is it really permanent?

Microblading / Micropigmentation is considered a permanent procedure, although some fading is to be expected between 1 to 3 years. A color refresher appointment can be scheduled to retouch any area at approximately 25% of the original procedure price.
